CPR Tampa offers Advanced Cardiac Life Support classes in the Palm Harbor, Florida area. Every month multiple sections of both the ACLS refresher course and 1st Time ACLS is offered. These courses are certified through the American Heart Association, and successful course completion culminates in the awarding of a 2 year AHA provider card. 
What if my ACLS class is expired?
If your certification is expired longer than a month you will have to take the 1st time course again. CPR Tampa offers a one day first time course instead of the more traditional two day version. Most healthcare providers prefer to accomplish the certification process in the day version.
How long should I study for an ACLS class?
This depends greatly on your experience. An emergency room doctor or nurse who run codes all day long would obviously be much more familiar with the required algorithms, drugs and protocols than an oral surgeon would be. If you are not very experienced with ECG rhythms and emergency pharmaceutical drugs and dosages, then usually at least two weeks of preparation is recommended. Again, just use this as a general rule of thumb. Everyone is different. One helpful tool is the required online pretest. This will give you a better idea of where you stand regarding the information covered in the class.
When will I receive my card?
CPR Tampa provides the American Heart Association ACLS provider card immediately after class. The laminated card is good for two years and must be renewed every two years after the initial training in order to maintain current status.
It the class stressful?
ACLS can be a very stressful experience, especially the dreaded MegaCode.
